DUKE (AP) Fans of Duke University should cheer for the Blue Devils in Week Five, as their defense is expected to be the main story of the weekend.
The ACC’s top-ranked defense was a factor in the Blue Devil’s win over Virginia Tech last Saturday, with the Blue Hens holding an edge over the Hokies for the third-best record in the conference and seventh-best scoring margin.
The Blue Devils are ranked No. 7 in the latest AP Top 25 and have been the best team in the country for much of the season.
That defensive strength should be enough to keep the BlueHens in the mix for the ACC’s final playoff spot.
Duke also will be playing its home opener in Durham, N.C., the first of three matchups against ACC opponents in 2018.
The Cavaliers play Clemson in Durham on Saturday.
The Blue Devils will have to win their first game to avoid losing their first-round bye.
They’ve won three straight at home to win the ACC regular-season title and face Wake Forest in the ACC Tournament semifinals on Sunday.
The first ACC game is scheduled for 3 p.m.
ET in Durham.
The second ACC game will be on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 3 p .m.
EDT in Winston-Salem.
The third ACC game, slated for 7 p.k.
ET, will be at 2 p.t.
The fourth game will take place on Tuesday, March 7, at 1 p.a.
EDT (ESPN2, WatchESPN).
