Georgia Bulldogs: Bulldogs lose to South Carolina football team

Georgia Bulldogs coach Matt Rhule and the team’s quarterback, Luke Falk, will miss Saturday’s game against South Carolina.

Rhule was injured in the first half of a 28-28 win over South Carolina on Saturday night.

The Bulldogs, who defeated the Gamecocks, are 5-0 at home this season.

This was the fourth consecutive game Falk had been ruled out of the game with a hamstring injury.

Georgia will host No. 1 LSU in the opener on Oct. 7.

“Luke is a big part of our team and we’re all extremely disappointed,” Rhule said.

“But we’ll get through it and we’ll come back stronger.”

This is the second consecutive year the Bulldogs will be without Falk, who was suspended for the 2016 season after being charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and failing to maintain a drug test.

He was not charged in that case.

South Carolina is in a similar position to Georgia in that it is 0-5 and has not won in Georgia.

The Gamecock offense was sluggish in the opening half, averaging just over 300 yards per game.

South’s defense has been outstanding in those first two games, allowing just 35.6 yards per contest.

South has not lost at Georgia since 1990.

The game is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.
