Miami (FL) — Mark Richtoft has been fired as head coach of the Miami Hurricanes football team, according to a report from the Miami Herald.
Richt was hired on June 5 as the head coach for the 2017 season.
According to the report, Richt is scheduled to have a meeting with the Miami athletic department on Monday.
The Herald’s Tom Pelissero first reported the news.
Richts departure comes as the Miami Heat are scheduled to face the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA Finals.
The 76ers beat the Heat in five games in Miami earlier this month.
Miami has lost five of its last six games, including its playoff game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night.
The Heat’s season has been a major storyline in the Miami sports world as the team continues to slide down the NBA’s standings.
It is now tied for last place in the Eastern Conference.
